LAS VEGAS, NV – How a 7-year-old boy got a hold of handgun and brought it to a school bus stop is a question that has been lingering with many valley parents.
The child reportedly showed the loaded gun to another 7-year-old Ries Elementary student while waiting for the bus near Wigwam Avenue and Misty Haze Street. That other child somehow unleashed a shot that police say hit an unoccupied car.
This ordeal unfolded back on November 13th. Now we're learning that a man is being charged with four felonies in connection with the unsettling bus stop shooting.
30-year-old Antoine Ford was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on three counts of child endangerment and one count of "possession of stolen property".
According to police, he bought the gun from a street corner, knowing it was likely stolen property. Ford then allegedly hid the gun under a couch while babysitting one of the 7-year-olds.
The report alleges he told the child "not to tell his mother" and knew there was a possibility that a child could get a hold of the gun.
Neither of the 7-year-olds involved were charged in connection with the incident because state law considers them too young to have intent.
