Las Vegas, NV - In just a few weeks, CityCenter will open its doors with 12 thousand employees.
One of those employees will be Laura Hicks.
"It feels very exciting," she says. "I'm very excited to be a part of this project."
Although truth be told, Laura is excited to be part of any project.
"It's been a struggle the last few months. My husband recently got a pay cut, so this has been my first time I've had to go out and look for a job in a while."
The employment director at MGM Mirage say the timing of CityCenter couldn't be better.
They've been able to hire thousands of employees, at a time when tens of thousands of people have been looking for work.
"It's very emotional to have so many people feel helpless and feel out and about, and be able to bring them in and find a home with our family," says Lori Calderon.
Hundreds of employees have found homes with other companies over the past few months.
Kohl's hired about 450 people at their 3 new stores.
Target brought in 200 people for their new location in Henderson. Those employees, like Laura, know how lucky they are.
"There's been a lot of layoffs, I have a lot of friends that have been laid off recently," says Hicks. "So I'm just glad I got offered this position."
