A man is killed by a homemade bomb and a teenager is facing murder charges. The explosion happened in a new housing development near Craig and Nellis around midnight Saturday.
Police say a 44-year old man and a 17-year old boy built the explosive device and brought it to a vacant lot. The device went off while the two were standing near it.
The 44-year old died after suffering severe injuries to his neck and chest. The 17-year old is recovering after taking a hit on his hand and arm.
"No not at all, we thought maybe somebody got shot because we saw a body laying down in the street," neighbor, David Murphy says.
"You know people with meth labs that blow themselves up every now and again, but this is just an empty lot, why would anyone blow themselves up in an empty lot?" Neighbor Mike Atlanta says.
Police released the teenager's name. He's Mario Labrato out of Southern California and he's facing some serious charges including possessing and explosive device and murder.
