NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV - A 4.2 earthquake rocked North Las Vegas Tuesday morning triggering a chemical release at a food plant and sparking an emergency for every first response agency in Southern Nevada.
It was all just a drill. The high intensity practice was paid for by a homeland security grant to make sure local agencies can respond to any disaster from a chemical release to an act of terrorism.
There is no word yet on how much money Southern Nevada will get this year.
"This is like playing football, you go out and do all the practice in the world and on game day you'd better be prepared and that's why we're here," said Captain Cedric Williams from the North Las Vegas Fire Department.
Valley first responders divvied up $18 million in 2009.
