Barbara Privett took the stand and talked about the memory of her son today.
"I keep hoping that someday Chris will walk in the door," she said. "Or that I'll his door and see him laying on the bed. But I know that's not going to happen."
15-year old Chris Privett was gunned down as he walked home from Palo Verde High School last February.
His older brother remembers that day well.
"When my dad called me, I didn't understand why Chris was killed," said Joshua Privett. "And today, I still don't understand why he was killed."
17-year old Gerald Davison didn't offer any explanation in court, but he did address the Privett family today.
"Sorry ain't going to cut it, but it's all I can say," he said. "Sorry."
Davison pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder with a deadly weapon, so he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 28 years.
The Privett family had this to say as Davison begins that sentence.
"I hope the horrible memories of what you did to Chris, to his family, to his friends and to the Las Vegas community stay with you forever," said Barbara Privett.
