No charges filed after standoff near Paradise & Warm Springs

Updated:

Police responded to reports of shots fired at a home near Paradise and Warm Springs Monday afternoon.

When they arrived on scene, officers heard several loud noises from inside the home on Bright View Drive. They evacuated nearby homes as a precaution after a Metro helicopter spotted a man in the backyard with a gun and a Confederate flag. In the process of running a woman to safety, a Metro officer accidentally fired his shotgun.

"I guess he just had his hand on the trigger and it went off on the ground," explained Pat Stroh who was walking with the officer.

She was not hurt and Interal Affairs is investigating the incident. Police questioned five people inside the home and let them go. Officers don't believe they fired a shot and no charges are expcted.
