Man arrested for renting out homes that aren't his

Updated:

Renters and homeowners beware. A man is under arrest for renting out homes that aren't his to rent out in the first place, taking advantage of both the renter and the homeowner.

If you've met Eric Alpert before to rent a house you might want to double check your lease.

Alpert is accused of using the office Diddie Limited Partnership, to rent out homes that don't belong to him.

According to police Alpert showed the houses, got keys, and moved renters in, only to have the homeowner show up having no idea someone is living in their house.

This isn't the first time Alpert has been accused of mismanaging real estate.

According to sources in 2003 his realtor's license was suspended for six months and he was fined close to $30,000 after claiming empty homes and renting them out without the owner's knowledge or consent.

Alpert is charged with 22 felony counts including burglary, theft, and forgery. He's being held in jail on a $190,000 bond.

North Las Vegas Police are asking anyone who believes they could be a victim of Alpert's to give them a call.
