Family of woman shot to death by Henderson Police expected to get $700K settlement

Updated:

The family of a woman shot and killed by Henderson Police is expected to receive a $700,000 settlement from the city. Zyber Selimaj filed a lawsuit seeking $25 million in damages after officers shot his wife Desir last year and put him in jail. Officers had stopped his ice cream truck for a traffic violation.

Police say Desira Selimaj then arrived at the scene with a knife and threatened herself, her children and officers. A coroner's inquest determined the shooting was justified. Officer Luke Morrison, the man who shot Desir, is now on administrative leave. His leave is not connected to the 2008 shooting.
