USA Sevens Rugby Adopt-A-Country Program Hosts Interactive Rugby Clinic for Members of the Clark County School District
As Clark County School District (CCSD) and USA Sevens Rugby continue their successful partnership with the return of the Adopt-A-Country program in the 2013-2014 school year, the two partners are enhancing the program by incorporating the important lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, exercise and healthy living into the curriculum through new and interactive elements that will teach students the actual game of rugby and increase interaction with their adopted countries. For the first time, CCSD teachers, parents and potential coaches who are participating in the Adopt-A-Country program are invited to receive private training from rugby professionals and earn a “Rookie Rugby” certification during an Adopt-A-Country kickoff event and clinic Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Charlie Frias Park. The rugby clinic, directed by USA Sevens and International Rugby Board Instructor and Educator Vaha Esikia, expands the Adopt-A-Country program by offering adults the opportunity to learn and coach the game of rugby. Throughout the afternoon, participants will learn drills and strategies while interacting with representatives from USA Sevens Rugby, Las Vegas Rugby Association, USA Rugby and Nevada Youth Rugby Organization.
