Written by playwright and journalist, and eventual congresswoman, Clare Boothe Luce, the two-act play was first performed in 1936 and had revival productions in the ‘70s and ‘90s.
“We've assembled an outstanding all-female cast for this production,” says director Rhonda Carlson. “With over 20 women playing over 40 roles with over 80 costume changes, this play focuses on the cut-throat antics of Park Avenue socialites in the 1930s who are continually in competition for money and men. The period costumes by Nancy Hardy and the period set designed by Eric Koger provide a visual feast for their antics, and the colorful gossip and biting humor of these women promises to make it entertaining as they sharpen their jungle red claws.”
The role of Nancy will be played by Cynthia Dobek, who played Little Mary in the play’s 1973 Broadway revival.
