Veterans Event for Memorial Day
Veterans and their family are invited to learn more about Humana’s far-reaching national Veterans Initiative at a celebration and open house at the Humana Guidance Center - Las Vegas. Various veterans’ service organizations will be at the event to provide information and resources. There will also be guest speakers, refreshment and more. In addition, veterans can learn about job opportunities at Humana and about affordable health and financial protection products. Special hosts of the event will be members of the Blue Star Mothers, who are mothers of Veterans and active military, and Gold Star Mothers, who are mothers of children killed in active duty. Blue Star Mothers and Gold Star Mothers assist the families of actively deployed military, help in the USO, greet troops upon their return, give love and care to the families when their loved ones are killed or wounded, and visit Wounded Warriors in the hospital. The group, which also sends care packages overseas to the troops, will provide information on the organization and extend their appreciation to veterans attending the event. Susan Braun, co-founder and past president of the South Nevada Chapter #1, will be in attendance. Launched in 2011, Humana’s Veterans Initiative looks to serve veterans in three ways: jobs, entrepreneurship and well-being. Humana is committed to hiring 1,000 veterans or their spouses by the end of 2013. Humana is also committed to supporting military members’ occupational futures through a $1 million contribution to the national Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV). Humana is devoted to the unique needs of veterans through a suite of affordable health plan and financial protection products.
