Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's not our typical restaurant visit in our latest Dirty Dining report. But during the inspection of a local business, the Southern Nevada Health District did find live roaches and food being sold illegally.

Inspectors say employees were cooking food at home and selling it at the Q Mall Juice Bar on East Tropicana Avenue, near U.S.95. The health district says that's illegal and "outside the parameters of the health permit."

That's just one reason the Health District shut down the Juice Bar, slapping it with 55 demerits.

Anything more than 40 equals an automatic closure. Inspectors also learned someone new has taken over the business which requires filing change-of-owner paperwork since they say health permits can't be transferred.

Other violations included no one at the time of the inspection, including the person in charge, had a health card; live roaches; inadequate hot water; and unapproved equipment.

Also, some food was found being stored at the wrong temperatures, like red sauce, cheese and chicken. And there were unlabeled food containers, including expired yogurt.

Contact 13 stopped by the Juice Bar, but it was still closed. The Southern Nevada Health District tells us the Juice Bar has been reinspected. They now have a 5 demerit A grade which allows them to reopen for business, but it's unknown when they plan to do that.
