Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Issues with food storage and signs of roaches lead to the closure of a valley restaurant. Contact 13's Tricia Kean has the details in our Dirty Dining report.

Check out this juicer, take a closer look. Inspectors found what they say are roach droppings. It's just one of the violations that led the Southern Nevada Health District to shut down El Santeneco with 43 demerits. Anything more than 40 demerits means an automatic closure.

The Guatemalan and Salvadoran restaurant on Maryland Parkway is right across the street from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Other violations included food at the wrong temperatures -- like tamales, rice, beans and cheese.

An employee was seen touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands. Some food was not properly labeled and some utensils were stored in standing water.

Inspectors also noted that the restaurant's C grade at the time of the inspection was hidden from view. And the health report says the person in charge had no knowledge of food safety.

Contact 13 stopped by the restaurant to ask about the violations. Manager Elizabeth Rodriguez told us the owner was unavailable but she did make a short statement:

"No more problem," said Rodriguez.

"No more problems? You cleaned everything up?" asked Tricia.

"Yes," said Rodriguez.

"And that's all you want to say?" asked Tricia.

"Yes," said Rodriguez.

The Southern Nevada Health District tells us El Santeneco is now open and operating with an 8 demerit A grade.
