Consumer spending down
Americans are spending less these days on everything. The Deloitte Consumer Spending Index declined again in January, for the third consecutive month.
The index tracks consumer cash flow as an indicator of future consumer spending.
Experts expect the fall in consumer spending to continue. Part of the reason might be the rise in costs for everything from gas, to home prices.
