Facebook security improvements
More security is being put in place for Facebook users. Facebook is providing an additional layer of security for all its U.S. users starting this week.
The connection to Facebook will now start with "HTTPS" instead of plain old "HTTP." It's an extra security layer that until recently has been used mostly by banks and other high-security sites, like those that handle credit card transactions.
It's more secure because all of the information is encrypted as it's sent to and from the Facebook servers.
