T-Mobile merging with Metro PCS
Cell phone provider T-Mobile is merging with Metro PCS. The deal still needs the approval of the Justice Department.
It's a little early to say what this means for consumers. But, both carriers have been leaders in offering low prices.
Metro PCS offers no-contract, month-to-month service, and T-Mobile has traditionally undercut Verizon and AT&T in its contract offerings.
Neither carrier covers the entire country with its network, and neither will the combined company. And neither company offers the iPhone.
The two carriers also use incompatible technology, so merging the networks is expected to be a long process.
