College debt on the rise
A new report shows college debt continues to grow.
U.S. college students and former students now owe more than $1 trillion in student loans, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The report, conducted by the Pew Research Center, is based on its analysis showing nearly one out of five U.S. households owes money for student loans. That's more than double the share from 20 years ago. Of those households with student loan debt, on average they owe $26,683.
