More people were buying new cars in August
August was a good month for many car dealers. When all the sales were added up it was the best August since 2007, just before the start of the recession.
Toyota and Volkswagen each saw sales rise 46 percent over August of last year.
Among domestic companies, Chrysler had the best numbers with sales up 14 percent. The Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck, and FIAT brands each recorded year-over-year sales gains for August, compared with the same month in 2011.
Ford recorded a sales increase of 13 percent, followed by General Motors sales which rose 10 percent during the month.
