Capital One is paying $12 million to settle a lawsuit. The payment covers a range of allegations brought by the Justice Department.

The bank is accused of violating the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, including wrongful foreclosures and improper vehicle repossessions. As part of the agreement, Capital One will provide a $5 million fund to compensate service members who didn't receive appropriate benefits on credit card accounts, motor vehicle finance loans and consumer loans.

The Attorney General says the action is an example of how the government will hold anyone accountable for discriminatory practices targeting U.S. servicemembers.
