It's time to reach into our Contact 13 mailbag. You email us questions and we answer them. Vita writes: Our family has a cabin in Mt. Charleston. I would like to know why the Las Vegas Valley Water District charges us $70.00 a month even though our water is turned off.
Well Vita, It turns out the Kyle Canyon Water District Board approved a new rate structure Last year. There's been major work done on the water system there. And now, customers are charged for water use, as well as a service fee. We also learned Vita, anyone with an inactive account, like your Mt. Charleston home, must pay a monthly service standby fee.
