Valley Citizens Take Crime Fighting Into Their Own Hands

Updated:

Taking crime fighting into their own hands.

For one valley company the sale of home security systems, including surveillance cameras is up by three hundred percent.

One family caught a thief on tape.

On video you can see him crawling into their garage and stealing belongings right from the car parked inside.

"30 seconds he was out of there, purse, all credit cards, both check books, drivers license, everything gone," homeowner Samantha Imlay says.

The owner of sting surveillance in Las Vegas says the boost in sales is due to dozens of foreclosed homes sitting empty creating targets for crooks.

Surveillance systems, including cameras, normally start around 15-hundred bucks.

While police say even if the video doesn't show enough identifying factors to get an arrest its still a big deterrent.
