Victim In Centennial Hills Attack Suing Hospital & Suspect

Updated:

A woman who says she was assaulted by a freelance nursing assistant and is now taking aim at the hospital where the alleged attack happened.

The police are going after Steven Farmer and the woman in the case is going after Centennial Hills Hospital, along with several other companies.

She is an alleged victim who has filed a lawsuit against each of those parties.

Meantime, Farmer is charged with counts ranging from sexual assault to open and gross lewdness.

If convicted, he could spend decades in prison.

Steven Farmer is a freelance nurse's assistant accused of sexually assaulting female patients at several hospitals in the Valley.

One of his alleged victims talked to Action News.

"I had a seizure that day, called paramedics," said the victim.

In a recent interview, she said Farmer attacked her in May at Centennial Hills Hospital.

"I just kept thinking, you know, what do I do? Do I fight him? Do I scream? What do I do," explained the victim.

She pressed charges and just this week, had her attorney, Neal Hyman, file a civil suit against Centennial Hills, its parent companies, farmer, and the company that contracted him to hospitals.

"It is probably something she is going to have to live with the rest of her life," explained Hyman.

Action News obtained a copy of the suit.

Its primary emphasis alleges negligent security first and foremost, a possible lack of surveillance cameras and chain of custody.

"Where was the supervision? Where were the records and logs to ensure that she was being handled by somebody who was trained and competent,"' said Hyman.

Centennial Hills' attorney issued a statement saying the hospital denies the allegations of negligence and has all appropriate mechanisms in place to ensure personnel providing patient care meet all legal requirements.

"My trust is gone and that is what I want back, I want my trust back. I want to be able to sleep at night," explained the victim.

Police say at least five other victims may feel the same way.

Action News did try to get in contact with the other companies besides Centennial Hills and got either no comment or they have not called us back.

If they lose the suit, they could potentially have to pay out millions of dollars.

Stay tuned to Action News as we monitor developing news around the Valley.
