Summer Energy Saving Tips

The weather is starting to heat up, and that means you may not be able to recognize your power bills before long.

But there are ways to make your money stretch.

Your AC makes up 65% of your bill.  The number one way to save money is by keeping your thermostat on 78 or 80 degrees.

This will take 15% off your monthly bill.

For most people that is too warm during the summer.  Fans will help reduce heat a few degrees.

If you do not have a fan, change your air filter monthly so you get more use out of your AC.  Filters only cost a few dollars to replace.

Energy efficient bulbs can also help.  If you replace five bulbs at home with energy efficient ones, you can save a bundle on your energy bill.

Keep windows taking in direct sunlight covered.

A fun alternative to cooking indoors, is using the BBQ.  This will keep the heat out of your house.

Water heaters should also be turned down to 120 degrees.  And be sure to use the energy saving feature on your printer and computer.
