Economists Predict NV's Unemployment Rate Could Jump To 8.6%

During a state Employment Security Council meeting Thursday, economists said the unemployment rate in Nevada will jump to 8.6% next year and remain at that rate in 2010.

The state panel was also told Nevada is in a recession and the outlook will not improve in the short term.

The state's jobless rate in August was 7.1%, the highest in 23 years.
