In terms of gas prices, it is hard to believe the good old days were only a month ago.
According to Vegasgasprices.com, one month ago the average price of regular unleaded gas in Southern Nevada was $3.68 a gallon.
Tuesday, gas prices around the Valley were $4.24 a gallon and still climbing.
However, one local gas station owner is selling it cheap.
Huey's Mart refuses to raise its price above $3.99 and a lot of people are very curious to know how they are doing it.
Action News reporter Ben Deci has the answer.
If you want gas for $3.99 a gallon, get ready to wait in line.
Hugh Canady is a friendly enough guy, but it is his prices that makes the place so popular.
"I check gas prices all over the United States. Wherever it is the cheapest, that is where I buy gas from and bring it in to Las Vegas," said Hugh.
That means Hugh is having most of his fuel brought in by truck or by train and not by pipeline, like so many other local stations.
The lines are always long and the rush of customers is constant.
But there is one problem for Hugh because someone keeps calling the government saying there is something wrong with his gas.
The calls are always anonymous.
"We do have people calling weights and measures, which they come out almost weekly and check my gas, and everything is always fine. They do it because of jealousy and such," said Hugh.
And if Hugh's competition is a little green with jealously, his customers are tickled pink.
It all goes to show just how focused people are on how much it costs to fill up their tanks.
