You have seen it rising up from the strip and now Action News is learning more about Project CityCenter.
Action News reporter Ben Deci went on a tour of one of the largest private construction projects in the country.
When it is finished CityCenter's Vdara tower will be both a hotel and condominium right in the same suite.
"It is a condo hotel so when residents are not in residence, the rooms are rented as part of the casino hotel," said Bobby Baldwin.
The Vdara Tower is still very much under construction and will not open until August 2009.
But at 57 stories, the tower is as high as it is going to be built.
"The first real test as to your progress is when a building gets topped out before it reaches its full height. It is a very exciting time," said Bobby.
One of the signature features of the CityCenter project are glass panels, they encase all the buildings.
One of the final stages will be putting the glass paneling at the podium levels or the ground floors of the CityCenter buildings.
When the project started the Las Vegas economy was very different.
Real Estate was booming and they could not build new homes fast enough.
Now Las Vegas is seeing tougher times so the question is can the CityCenter adapt?
"We knew that the markets were going to slow down. So when we started this idea three years ago, we were well aware that there are peaks and valleys in terms of residential markets," said Bobby.
Baldwin says they have sold $1.7 billion of housing, of the $3 billion total that is on the market.
