Steve Ryan

Action News Reporter
sryan@ktnv.com

Steve Ryan joins Action News from Fort Myers, Florida, where he worked as a general assignment reporter.  Channel 13 is Steve's first job on the West Coast. Before his stint in the Sunshine State, he worked as a bureau chief / reporter in South Georgia, where he also anchored a bi-weekly newscast and filled-in on the evening show. He also spent more than two years as a lead writer / web reporter at CNN Headline News in Atlanta, and before that, as a reporter in Wilmington, NC.

Steve attended Elon University in North Carolina, where he double majored in journalism and broadcast communications, but he was hooked on news long before that. Both of his parents worked in news for decades.  Steve even performed his first liveshot as a teenager during the 1996 Olympics in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.  Steve was helping a photojournalist setup a liveshot on a roof, when the bomb went off.  Police cordoned off every building in downtown Atlanta, and wouldn't let the reporter up to do the liveshot.  The producer at Associated Press Television, which Steve was working for, had him do the liveshot.  After that, he spent several days camped out in front of former suspect, Richard Jewel's house.  From there, it was all downhill.

Speaking of downhill, Steve enjoys skiing and almost every other outdoor activity, including camping, hiking, SCUBA diving, and boating.  If you've got a story idea of any type, don't hesitate to e-mail Steve at sryan@ktnv.com.
