Nevada Power wants to add about $13 a month to your electricity bill.  Action News has a few tips on how to offset the proposed increase.

It could be a couple more weeks before the rate increase is approved.  But these are a few simple steps you can take to help save money:

  • Make sure your thermostat is level and set between 78 and 80 degrees.  It will save you as much as 10% on your bill.
  • Cover windows and keep drapes closed during the day.
  • Use fans with the air conditioner to help circulate the cool air.
  • Get all of your chores done during cooler times of the day.

Keep it tuned to Channel 13 Action News for more energy saving tips and for updates on the proposed Nevada Power rate increase.
