Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Clark County Commissioners passed a motion for a settlement involving a proposed development near Red Rock Canyon.
Activists wanted to stop Developer Jim Rhodes from building new homes near the conservation area. Gypsum Resources sued the county, claiming it was unconstitutional to keep them from developing the land. So a judge advised the county to reach an agreement.
Wednesday, the county did just that. The idea behind the settlement is to get the Gypsum Resources' lawsuit dismissed. From the planning side, Rhodes would then be allowed to apply for the major development project, increasing density and commercial use.
But the County Commission would have final approval on certain nuances on that project. This all depends on whether the agreement is finalized.
