Palo Verde High School wins Nevada Regional Science Bowl

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A team from Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas won the Nevada Regional Science Bowl over the weekend at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site officials say the Palo Verde team will represent the region in the federal Energy Department's National Science Bowl from April 29 to May 4 in Washington D.C.

The Palo Verde team also won $5,000 for the school as the top finisher Saturday among 32 teams from northern and southern Nevada, and parts of California, Arizona and Utah.

Douglas County High School of Minden, placed second and won $2,500 for the school.

A team from Green Valley High School in Henderson took third, and a team from Clark High School in Las Vegas took fourth.
