Changes to Federal subsidy on CORBA coverage

WASHINGTON, D.C..-People who have been laid off may see their health insurance go up more than $700.

The federal subsidy to the COBRA insurance plan ended Tuesday for those who first signed up for it in February. 

COBRA lets workers keep their company's health insurance plan after they leave their jobs.

President Obama's February stimulus bill cut the cost of COBRA for nine months, but without the federal subsidy, families could see their COBRA premiums jump from $389 a month to more than $1,100 a month.
