Concerns about the swine flu appear to be affecting holiday travel.
Along with hugs, some visitors at McCarran Airport on Wednesday shared stories of planes filled with fellow passengers who were coughing and sneezing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta is warning friends and family to take precautions that ensure folks don't share more than a holiday meal for Thanksgiving. Action News found one woman who wore a surgical mask during her flight to Las Vegas.
Lynette Johnson says; "I kept thinking, I'm breathing air that other people have been breathing in. Plus, I was coming from Atlanta, and Atlanta is an international airport. So these are international germs".
But the AAA motor club says the economy is having more of an impact on air travel than swine flu. 200,000 people are expected to fly over Thanksgiving. That's down 8% from last year. However, more people say they plan to drive this holiday season; pushing overall travel figures up by about 3%.
