BOULDER CITY, NV - Corrections Officer Daniel Leach was laid to rest at the Boulder City Cemetery Saturday afternoon. The burial followed Leach's funeral at the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer earlier in the day.
Family, friends, and hundreds of uniformed officers paid tribute to their fallen brother. While mourning his death, they found some comfort in the fond memories they shared with Leach throughout the years.
"We have stuck together through divorces, kidney surgery, and our children's school events," said Curt Wildmann, a Metro officer and long time friend of Daniel Leach.
Leach was killed around 5:30am Saturday, November 21st near Searchlight when he was en route to pick up a prisoner. Sheriff Doug Gillespie says Leach was the only person inside his vehicle when he came into contact with a dump truck. The driver of the truck was not injured.
This accident comes on the heels of the murder of Metro Officer Trevor Nettleton, gunned down at his home earlier in the week. Nettleton was laid to rest Wednesday.
