Veterans Day activities around the Valley

Action News would like to thank our veterans and their families for their service.

Here is a look at how Veterans Day is being recognized around the valley.

-The Veterans Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m.  It runs along 4th Street from Gass Avenue to East Ogden Avenue in downtown Las Vegas.

-The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 and Auxiliary will host a ceremony at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. That's at 1900 Buchanan Boulevard. The ceremony begins at 1:30pm.  There will be a presentation of colors, the singing of the national anthem and other musical tributes.

-Station Casinos will give a free buffet to all military personnel today.  Any active, inactive or retired member can head to any Feast Buffet location. Just show a military ID.

-Horses4Heroes will host an open house from 9am-4pm.  Guided horseback riding and a petting zoo will be available for the event at the Diamond K Ranch.  That's just off of Lone Mountain, two blocks west of the Santa Fe Hotel.

-The Las Vegas Natural History Museum will have free admission for military personnel with ID from 9am-4pm.  Friends and family members must pay the admission fee.

-Terrible's Car Wash will offer free basic full service or basic exterior car washes for veterans and active military.  The event runs from 11am-3pm at all locations.  Must show valid military ID.  One offer per ID.

-Military members and veterans with valid ID can get in to the Springs Preserve for a dollar from 10am- 6pm.

-El Cortez Hotel & Casino is giving away free slices of pumpkin pie from noon to 6pm.

-The Palo Verde High School ROTC will perform a ceremony at 1:30pm at the Las Ventanas retirement community.

-There will be a ceremony at Wood Lawn Cemetery at 2pm.
