CLARK COUNTY, NV - Las Vegas saw an increase in the number of tourists for the first time in 15 months. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, tourist volume was up by 4.3% in September compared to the same time last year, with more than 3 million people visiting Sin City.
The tourism industry went through a tough dry spell after a devastating blow by the recession. Yet tourists say they’re starting to feel optimistic about the economy and that’s what's motivating people to spend money again.
“We’re doing well so we wanted to come on vacation and I see a lot of people doing the same,” said Eric Nanny who was visiting from St. Louis.
According to the report, convention attendance was also up 12%, even though there were fewer events held in September compared to the same time last year. Al thought the new numbers indicate a boost in consumer confidence, experts hope the upward trend continues.
