Mayor Oscar Goodman announced plans for a new sports arena. He says the Las Vegas City Council will talk about building the arena on 18 acres of land in the Downtown area.

The mayor says it is a big step toward toward turning the dream into a reality.

"We're gonna make an announcement at I believe our November 7 City Council meeting about an exclusive negotiating agreement concerning bringing an arena to our community which will be able to be the first step in order to accomplish that," explained Mayor Goodman.

The measure still needs to be approved. Meantime, the land that the arena would be built on is currently owned by the city.
