Great uncle of tots bound and gagged wants payback

Posted:

It's a despicable story about two toddlers who were allegedly tied up, gagged, strapped to carseats, with pillowcases over their faces on a garage floor, at the hands of a 20-year-old man.

Jonathan Weaver was reportedly left with the 1 and 2-year- old boys because his girlfriend, the mother of the children, was attending night school.

"He comes here to pick her up, you know, and they go to the park or something. They come back, she gets ready to go to school and he takes the kids," said Miguel Hernandez, the great uncle of both boys.

Hernandez say this was a casual routine for his niece and Weaver, who had been dating for about a year.

He never expected things could take such an unthinkable turn at Weaver's apartment, because he says Weaver was practically a father to both little boys.

"Just picturing them in the dark. I don't really want to think about it," he said. "I hope they will never remember this."

According to Metro, the two young boys were left in the garage for more than two hours.

The great uncle of the toddlers is most upset because he says Weaver could've returned the children to their home in Henderson at any time.

At the same time, investigators believe Weaver intentionally did not return the children because they say he may have intended to kill them.

"I've been crying, she's been crying. It's really hard for all of us, very hard. I was like, I want to see this guy," said Hernandez.

Hernandez can't find it in himself to come face to face with the man he trusted with his family members, but he hopes Weaver pays with hard time behind bars.

"I hope he pays, because he's a bad person to me now. A very bad person."

The mother is not being charged in connection with this crime. Her family tells us she is trying to regain custody of her children from Child Protective Services.

Jonathan Weaver is charged with attempted murder, child abuse, endangerment, neglect and kidnapping.

If convicted, he could spend decades in prison.
